Choosing a plumber? Ask these first
- Are you licensed with PIRB?
- What's the call-out fee, and is it part of the final price?
- Will this job need a Certificate of Compliance?
- Can I have the quote in writing before you start?
- A PIRB licensed plumber. Only a plumber licensed with the Plumbing Industry Registration Board can issue a PIRB Certificate of Compliance. Ask for their licence card, or contact PIRB to confirm. Check it here
- A Certificate of Compliance where it applies. PIRB says one is needed for solar water heating and heat pumps. Rules for electric geysers changed in 2022, so ask your plumber or insurer what your job needs.
